School Board

GREG BURTIN - SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT

Greg graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Exercise Physiology before completing his Master of Physical Therapy at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in 2000. He has been practicing physical therapy for over 25 years and founded his own private practice in 2007.  Greg has been an active member of Central Church in College Station since 2000. He and his wife, Jenny, have been married for 16 years, and are the proud parents of three children who all attend Oakwell Academy.

JAY GRIFFIN - SCHOOL BOARD VICE-PRESIDENT

Jay graduated from Texas A&M University with Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Jay is an Associate Professor of Veterinary Radiology at Texas A&M.

LAURI EVANS - FOUNDER, SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER

Lauri graduated with a Master's of Science in Accounting from Texas A&M University. She has designed and implemented accounting practices for two startup non-profit organizations in addition to acquiring several years of work experience with a public accounting firm and a private estate planning law firm. 

RAY EVANS - FOUNDER, SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER

Ray earned his degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University. He has built a career leading technology teams and driving innovation across industries. As Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of The Flippen Group, Ray oversees technology strategy, development, and implementation to advance the organization’s mission and impact.

SARAH GRIFFIN - SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER

Sarah graduated from Baylor with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Chemistry. She also received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University. She worked for several years in the emergency and primary care services at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital before setting her career aside to focus on being a full-time mom.

ASHLEE HARDY - FOUNDER, SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER

Ashlee graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor in Liberal Arts and a minor in Business. Ashlee has helped start two non-profit organizations in the last six years and had experience working in marketing and sales before becoming a full-time mom.

TYLER HARDY - FOUNDER, SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER

Tyler Hardy is a Founder and Board Member of Oakwell Academy. Since 2015, he and his wife, Ashlee, have helped shape its vision as a thriving Classical Christian University-Model® School. A graduate of Texas A&M University (Construction Science, 2005), Tyler’s leadership and summers at Kanakuk Kamps and LLYC fueled his passion for mentoring students. In 2009, he and Ashlee planted Antioch Community Church, where he served 16 years as Senior Pastor and continues as an Elder. Tyler now invests in real estate, focusing on construction, property acquisition, and note purchasing. He and Ashlee are raising five children with purpose and faith.

JAMES LEE - SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER

James graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in International Studies, then completed medical school in 2013 at Texas A&M HSC. He went on to complete a residency in ophthalmology and currently practices at Texas Regional Eye Center.

NATHAN MCCOY - SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER

Nathan graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering. He's worked as a Camp Counselor, Maintenance Staff, and Kitchen Staff at Pine Cove Christian Camps.  He also has experience as a Math and Physics Teacher and Dean of Students. He had a short stint in a cubicle writing SQL Queries and now works for Lisam America as a Trainer on software for authoring Safety Data Sheets. He owns Best Man Construction and serves people as they remodel their homes and/or businesses.

DANIEL MORCHAT - SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER

Daniel graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Math/Science Education. He later earned a Master’s in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master’s in Educational Administration from San Angelo State University. With 17 years of experience in public education and administration, Daniel has also owned and operated private businesses. He has been married to his wife, Jordan, for 16 years, and together they have four children.

JORDAN MORCHAT - SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER

Jordan graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Nutritional Sciences in 2007. She has owned and operated multiple private businesses since then. She has served on a non-profit board specifically focusing on fundraising for women and children. Jordan has been married to her husband, Daniel, for 16 years, and together they have four children.
