Admissions Policies & FAQs

Policies:

Christian and Nondenominational Policy

Oakwell Academy is a private, Christian school and an independently governed nonprofit organization. Our Statement of Faith is fundamental to basic Christian tenets and contains those doctrines to which we unreservedly adhere and teach. It is our desire to maintain this position, remaining united in the salvation and love of Christ and avoiding the dissension which may be caused by denominational distinctives.

Non-Discriminatory Policy

Oakwell Academy shall make no distinction in its admission or operating policies with regard to an individual's race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin because we recognize that there can be no preferential treatment with God (Romans 2:11). Oakwell Academy shall admit students of any race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It shall not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

FAQ’S

What is the Admissions process?

Our Admissions Process is as follows:

  • Attend an Informational Meeting and receive an application(s) (you can only receive an application at our Info Meetings

  • Turn in application(s) with required items and fee

  • Receive an email from Admissions Team setting up an Interview and Assessment for your student

  • Have Family Interview and Assessment (assessments are for incoming Kinder students and above)

What is the admissions process for Oakwell siblings?

While we know our model is not a fit for every child, it is our desire to bless families by serving as many of their children as possible. Once a family has been accepted and gone through the admissions process with their child, they do not need to go through the family interview a second time. Sibling applications and placement testing usually takes place in April, and sibling admission decisions are made prior to re-enrollment.

Do I have to agree with Oakwell's Statement of Faith for admission into the school?

Yes, both parents must wholeheartedly agree with, genuinely live by, and willingly sign our Mission, Statement of Faith, and Family Commitment. As a discipleship school, Oakwell is committed to ministering to and partnering with Christian families in order to reinforce and support the faith and Biblical worldview instilled in your child at home and at your local church. We are only able to effectively partner with and support families when unified in our core beliefs and values. It is neither our desire nor our role to be the primary influence in your child’s life, but rather to complement your efforts in educating and discipling your child.

How do I apply for Tuition Assistance?

Oakwell is unable to offer Tuition Assistance to families at this time but is looking towards including assistance in the future.

Can I observe an Oakwell class?

Yes. Please email info@oakwellacademy.org to set up a time to come tour our campus and observe our classrooms.

Why are there so many steps in the Oakwell Admissions Process?

We value your time and desire to make the best educational decisions for your family. To ensure you are well informed about the unique and inspiring approach to education at Oakwell, it is important for you to hear an overview of the school’s model, mission, academics and opportunities directly from school administrators (Informational Meeting), discern if our heart for discipleship and education is consistent with that of your family’s (required reading), and have a personal opportunity to discuss the compatibility of your family’s goals with the school’s methods and philosophy, while receiving valuable feedback for optimal grade level placement at Oakwell (placement testing and family interview). While the process may seem lengthy, each step is implemented to assist you in learning more about the school and your role in the parent/school partnership that is essential to Oakwell. Through this process, we are both better equipped to partner in training the hearts and minds of your children for the glory of God through a classical, Christian education.

Where can I purchase the required reading books in order to complete my application?
