Admissions Policies & FAQs

Policies:

Christian and Nondenominational Policy

Oakwell Academy is a private, Christian school and an independently governed nonprofit organization. Our Statement of Faith is fundamental to basic Christian tenets and contains those doctrines to which we unreservedly adhere and teach. It is our desire to maintain this position, remaining united in the salvation and love of Christ and avoiding the dissension which may be caused by denominational distinctives.

Non-Discriminatory Policy

Oakwell Academy shall make no distinction in its admission or operating policies with regard to an individual's race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin because we recognize that there can be no preferential treatment with God (Romans 2:11). Oakwell Academy shall admit students of any race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It shall not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

What is the admissions process for Oakwell siblings?

At Oakwell, we love partnering with whole families. While we know our model may not be the best fit for every child, it is always our desire to serve as many children in a family as possible. Once a family has completed the admissions process and been accepted with one child, siblings are able to apply during the re-enrollment process.

Each sibling will:

  • Come for a New Student Assessment (for incoming Kindergarten and above)

  • Fill out a Pre-K Questionnaire and attend a short interactive time with our teachers (for incoming Pre-K only)

  • Meet with our Administrative Team

This allows us to get to know each child individually while honoring the family’s place in our school community.

Do I have to agree with Oakwell's Statement of Faith for admission into the school?

Yes, both parents must wholeheartedly agree with, genuinely live by, and willingly sign our Mission, Statement of Faith, and Family Commitment. As a discipleship school, Oakwell is committed to ministering to and partnering with Christian families in order to reinforce and support the faith and Biblical worldview instilled in your child at home and at your local church. We are only able to effectively partner with and support families when unified in our core beliefs and values. It is neither our desire nor our role to be the primary influence in your child’s life, but rather to complement your efforts in educating and discipling your child.

How do I apply for Tuition Assistance?

Oakwell is unable to offer Tuition Assistance to families at this time but is looking towards including assistance in the future.

Why are there so many steps in the Oakwell Admissions Process?

We value your time and your desire to make the best educational choices for your family.

At Oakwell, we want you to be well-informed about our unique and inspiring approach to education. That’s why our admissions process includes several important steps: hearing directly from our administrators at an Informational Meeting, reading materials that help you discern whether our heart for discipleship and education aligns with your family’s, and engaging in a Family Interview and Student Assessment. These steps not only give you a clear picture of our model, mission, academics, and opportunities, but also provide a meaningful space to discuss how your family’s goals align with Oakwell’s methods and philosophy.

While the process may feel thorough, each step is designed to support you in understanding the parent/school partnership that is essential here. Ultimately, this journey equips us both to faithfully partner together in training the hearts and minds of your children for the glory of God through a classical, Christian education.
